Thrilled to announce that our article has just been published in the International Journal of Clinical and Health Psychology:
“A Randomized Clinical Trial of Mindfulness Training Versus a Health Promotion Program: Impact on Cognitive and Mental Health in Older Immigrants”

In this study, we compared group-based interventions (an 8-week Mindfulness-based program vs. a Health promotion program) among older Portuguese-speaking immigrants in Luxembourg. Both interventions proved feasible and led to improvements in executive functioning, perceived stress, and anxiety. The benefits persisted for up to 3 months after the program.

A heartfelt thank you to Zitha, our collaborators, participants, and all co-authors!

New Care Home for Portuguese-Speaking Seniors Opens in Luxembourg: We are pleased to share the news of the recent opening of Luzithano, the first care home in Luxembourg specifically dedicated to Portuguese-speaking older adults. This important step reflects a growing awareness of the linguistic and cultural needs of aging migrant communities in the country. This development is closely aligned with the insights gathered through our partnership with Zitha during the MEDITAGING project. Through community-based workshops and follow-up meetings with older Portuguese migrants, we identified key needs and gaps in culturally sensitive care.
We warmly congratulate and thank Zitha for this meaningful initiative. Luzithano stands as a valuable example of how research, community engagement, and institutional action can join forces to address real-life challenges. We look forward to continuing our shared efforts to support healthy and inclusive aging.
